The 24-hour window

How it works

WhatsApp lets a business send any message for 24 hours after the customer's last message. Every conversation carries window and window_expires_at.

Any message goes through.

closing

Under two hours left.

closed

Only a template goes through.

The customer never wrote.

Outside the window

A text, media or interactive send outside the window is refused with 422 window_closed. Send a template instead. When the customer replies, the window opens again.
